Background and Award Information

The California Volkswagen Mitigation Trust’s Zero-Emission Freight and Marine Program’s deadline has been extended. There is $25 million in funding available.

Eligible Applicants

The following zero-emission projects are eligible for funding: repowering marine vessels, including ferries, tugboats, and towboats to zero-emission; replacing heavy-lift forklifts with zero-emission alternatives; and replacing cargo handling equipment including terminal tractors with zero-emission alternatives. Eligible applicants include individuals, businesses, nonprofits, or government entities based in California or with a California-based affiliate.

Important Dates

Applications are being accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the program becomes oversubscribed, at which point applications will be placed on a waitlist and be considered as funding becomes available.
