Background and Award Information
The Maryland Energy Administration has launched the Local Government Energy Modernization Program, a one-time funding opportunity aimed to help support local governments as they engage in sustainable, long-term clean energy and energy efficient projects that lead to reduced energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions. A total of $64 million is available and is being offered in four core Areas of Interest, including a competitive planning project grant and competitive project grant for electrification projects only.
Eligible Applicants
Incorporated towns, cities, and counties of Maryland are eligible to apply. Eligible projects include those that lead to future energy efficiency, renewable energy, emission-reducing capital improvements or electrification of local government owned or leased buildings.

Applications are due December 5, 2025.
