Background and Award Information

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) is requesting proposals for the Granite State Clean Fleets (GSCF) competitive grant program. GSCF offers partial reimbursement for projects that reduce transportation-related emissions by scrapping and replacing older, dirtier diesel-powered units with newer, cleaner alternative-fuel or diesel-powered units. Total available funding of $5.1 million is available from New Hampshire’s Volkswagen Mitigation Trust. NHDES anticipates opening a second GSCF round in the latter half of 2025 with an additional $5.1 million of available funding, although eligibility and conditions for the later funding may be subject to change. There is no limit to the number of applications an entity may submit.

Eligible Applicants

Eligible applicants include New Hampshire government entities such as municipalities, public school districts, public colleges/universities and transit agencies, as well as private businesses or non-profits organizations.
