Background and Award Information

The Washington Department of Commerce has issued a Request for Applications for the Tribal Electric Boats Program. There is $4,750,000 in funding available to tribes to support the electrification of marine propulsion power for tribal fishing vessels, including boats for research and patrol activities. Funds can be used for project management, engineering, new vessels, vessel repowers, engine retrofits, charging pedestals, make-ready infrastructure, ongoing operations and maintenance, and other project-related costs.

Eligible Applicants

Eligible applicants include tribes or enterprises operated by federally-recognized tribes whose traditional lands and territories included parts of Washington or were adjacent to Washington’s border.

Applications are due October 23, 2025.
