Communities across Kauaʻi, Maui, and Hawaiʻi are one step closer to cleaner, quieter transit options with the delivery of four battery-electric buses (BEBs) to each island. This project, supported by the Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE), the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), and local counties, lays the groundwork for reducing air pollution and improving public health through modern zero-emission vehicles.

With the Low or No Emission Grant Program (Low-No) application window closing in mid-July, CTE’s Policy team is reflecting on key changes in this year’s Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) and anticipated programmatic shifts under the Trump Administration.

CTE is proud to support the City of Lawrence, Kansas, in its continued transition to a cleaner, more efficient transit system. CTE is leading technical assistance and project management for the city’s latest advanced technology vehicle deployment under the Federal Transit Administration’s Low or No Emission Vehicle Program (Low-No).

On May 15–16, Mountain Line in Missoula, MT welcomed 21 transit agencies from across the country to its hometown for the Innovations in Zero Emission Transit roundtable—an intimate, highly interactive event organized and executed by the Zero Emission Bus Resource Alliance (ZEBRA).

One-on-One Transit, taking place June 16–18 in Binghamton, NY, brings together transit agencies and solution providers for curated meetings, networking opportunities, and an exclusive site visit. As the event’s anchor sponsor, BAE Systems will host a special behind-the-scenes tour of its nearby Endicott, NY, facilities, giving attendees an up-close look at its cutting-edge zero-emission technologies.

The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) is proud to support The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority (The COMET) in Columbia, South Carolina, as the agency expands its zero-emission fleet with both battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell buses. This deployment marks a major step forward for The COMET as it explores how both technologies can work together to serve the community more sustainably and efficiently.
