2018 in Review: CTE's Fight Against Climate Change

CTE's mission is to improve the health of our climate and communities by bringing people together to develop and commercialize clean, efficient, and sustainable transportation technologies. The importance of our mission was brought to new heights within the public consciousness this year with the release of the most recent report by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), warning the world has only 12 years before climate change is irreversible. Transportation electrification will become one of the main pillars needed to mitigate a 1.5 degrees Celsius global temperature increase.CTE is currently managing more than 75 vehicle electrification projects across the country, with 31 recently awarded projects on the horizon. CTE is proud to be a leader in the global response to climate change and 2018 has been the most productive year in our 25-year history.

New Projects

In 2018, CTE won 31 new projects. We are anxious to move these important projects down the path to success in 2019 and beyond.CTE led 10 successful proposals to the Federal Transit Administration's (FTA) Low or No Emission Vehicle Program in 2018. CTE is proud to be partnering with the following transit agencies to deploy zero-emission buses (ZEB) as part of this program:

Industry Leadership

CTE moves the needle through our industry outreach. We bring together climate action leaders to connect around zero-emission vehicle solutions.ZEB Sister Conferences: Our American and European Zero Emission Bus Conferences enjoyed stellar success, with more than 300 in attendance at each conference. CTE's US Zero Emission Bus Conference was hosted by LA Metro and focused on requirements for electric transit at scale.

Third Annual Advanced Transportation Reception: Our legislative reception in Washington, DC was once again a huge success as CTE and our members strive to educate national lawmakers on the benefits of zero-emission vehicles.

ZEBRA Meetings: We coordinated the Spring and Fall membership meetings of the Zero Emission Bus Resource Alliance (ZEBRA) in addition to providing technical consultation to the group year-round.

CTE on the Hill

In addition to reaching out to lawmakers through our annual legislative reception, CTE was instrumental in moving forward key policies in 2018. Our work in Washington and Sacramento has helped produce legislation in favor of zero-emission technology and improved air quality. Two key pieces of legislation that CTE supported in 2018 were signed into law.
