CTE is seeking a technical professional with expertise in gaseous and cryogenic fueling infrastructure (GH2, LH2, LNG, and CNG), including process engineering, site planning, and design of hydrogen refueling stations and maintenance facilities, to provide support to our clients as they evaluate, select, and deploy fuel cell electric vehicle technologies. As anEngineering Consultant, you will be working directly with clients to support their transition to zero-emission vehicles. You will apply your technical proficiency to provide insight into various aspects of this transition, including: evaluation of available fueling technologies, developing design and construction scopes of work, applied engineering of infrastructure design, review of engineered plans, fleet transition planning, project planning and tracking, and addressing client technical questions. You will work primarily with fuel cell vehicle applications, utilizing your understanding of industrial gas processing as applied to hydrogen as a fuel. This job opportunity can be remote and does not require working from a particular location, however we prefer candidates inBerkeley, Sacramento, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and St. Paul. Travel is required to project sites 3-5 days/month on average.
Position Responsibilities
- Conduct site analysis for maintenance facility upgrades and the installation of hydrogen fueling infrastructure and related facilities safety systems and write reports recommending sizing, siting, utility connections, hydrogen safety equipment upgrades for co-located equipment and facilities, and best practices
- Assess the extent of mechanical and electrical upgrades and the installation of gas and fire detection systems and related alarm notifications to maintain fuel cell vehicles in new or existing facilities safely. This will include preparing estimated budgets for the A&E design and construction/installation phases of the project
- Develop preliminary conceptual site drawings (block diagrams) for the installation of hydrogen fueling infrastructure at client sites
- Provide technical review and comments on site, civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings and/or diagrams illustrating the location and distribution of hydrogen fueling infrastructure
- Work with fleets to help meet zero-emission goals, including vehicle acquisition planning and fueling infrastructure deployment needs
- Work with client fleet and facility managers, fueling infrastructure and vehicle suppliers, engineering and design firms, local utilities, and local, county, and state authorities to assist with all aspects of hydrogen infrastructure deployment planning and permitting
- Define requirements and top-level specifications for the production, delivery, and/or supply of hydrogen fuel and equipment required to meet the client’s operational requirements
- Provide detailed analysis and understanding of codes and standards related to hydrogen fuel, fuel cell electric vehicles, and maintenance facilities
- Quickly learn about new technologies and their applications and compatibility with existing technologies, such as microgrid applications
- Research and develop turn-key strategies for deploying large-scale hydrogen fueling solutions
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills and develop working relationships with remote clients, partners, and stakeholders, including fleet managers, manufacturers, and government officials
- Prepare client deliverables such as written reports of results, recommendations, and best practices
- Present on maintenance and refueling strategies, scalability, and best practices at conferences and meetings
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Systems Engineering (or related field)
- 2-5 years of experience in cryogenic and compressed gas processing, engineering, or project management
- Client-facing project management or project engineering roles
- Application of applicable codes and standards: ASME, NFPA, ISO (or derivatives) including IBC, IFC, IEC, and IMC
- Ability to develop effective relationships with clients and vendors across the industry
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in English writing
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Systems Engineering (or related field)
- 5+ years’ experience in compressed cryogenic and gas processing, technical project management.
- Demonstrated history of successful hydrogen, LNG, or CNG fueling station design and deployment for fleet applications
- Engineering or project management of alternative fuel infrastructure, processing, and dispensing systems. Examples include: CNG, LNG, CH2, LH2, and LPG
- Expertise or knowledge in hydrogen production systems and hydrogen distribution pathways and the suppliers within those markets
- Cryogenic gas/liquid processing, engineering or project management
- Application of hydrogen in production, processing, storing, and dispensing systems (either as a fuel or industrial gas)
- Design, engineering, and commissioning of light- and heavy-duty fueling facilities
- Experience with permitting (planning and building) through Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)
- Professional Engineer License
- Experience with geospatial analysis
- Experience with AutoCAD (civil site work or electrical design)
Required Skills
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret applicable codes and standards: ASME, NFPA, SAE J2601, ISO (or derivatives) including IBC, IFC, IEC, and IMC
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret engineering documents including P&ID’s, equipment data sheets, equipment general arrangement drawings, construction drawings (plans)
- Working understanding of hazardous cryogenic and gas processing, dispensing, and storage
- Working understanding of civil, electrical, and mechanical scopes of work for engineering and construction of cryogenic and gas processing facilities
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is able to work independently to overcome technical obstacles, suggest better approaches, and communicate effectively – verbally, visually, and in writing. The ability to juggle multiple projects is an absolute must. Travel is required 3-5 days/month on average.

CTE is seeking a Project Accountant to manage the financial aspects of multiple high-profile, multi-sponsor projects in accordance with the terms and conditions of each project contract. The Project Accountant will collaborate closely with CTE project managers, subcontractors, and the CTE accounting team to uphold the reliability and integrity of project financials throughout each project's lifecycle. Responsibilities
- Manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, invoicing, reconciliation, and financial analysis

This position will use analytic tools such as Excel, Python scripts, simulations, databases, and data visualization tools on a daily basis.
