Background and Award Information

MBTA and MTA are looking to procure 20 diesel-electric and battery-electric locomotives to advance commitment to MTA’s 100% electric train operations and MBTA’s commitment to support regional and state decarbonization goals. Proposals should include project management, design and engineering, manufacturing, commissioning, warranty support and training among other items.

Important Dates

Questions are due April 3, 2026 and proposals are due June 10, 2026.
