Background and Award Information

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is accepting applications for its Industrial Training and Assessment Center (ITAC) Program, which supports university-based centers that provide no-cost technical assessments to improve the competitiveness and efficiency of U.S. industry while providing students with hands-on engineering and workforce training. DOE plans to select universities to operate ITACs for the next five years under two tracks: Track 1 – traditional manufacturing ITACs and Track 2 – a new ITAC model focused on mining and mineral processing operations. The program supports emerging workforce and industry priorities including critical minerals, advanced manufacturing technologies, and cybersecurity.
