Background and Award Information

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) has announced the availability of $686 million through the All Stations Accessibility Program (ASAP) to support accessibility upgrades at legacy rail transit stations across the United States. Many rail stations built before 1990 were constructed prior to the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and remain inaccessible to people with disabilities.

This funding opportunity supports projects that improve accessibility in older rail transit systems through upgrades such as elevator installations, ramps, platform modifications, and other ADA-compliant infrastructure improvements. The program aims to ensure that individuals with disabilities and mobility limitations have equitable access to public transportation and essential destinations such as work, healthcare, and education.

Eligible applicants typically include public transit agencies responsible for legacy rail stations requiring accessibility upgrades.
