Background and Award Information

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is accepting applications for the Bus Safety, Accessibility, and Innovation Research Program to support projects that research and develop innovative transit bus designs, safety technologies, and accessibility improvements. Funding will support the development of retrofit and new-bus prototypes that enhance operator safety, improve accessibility for passengers with disabilities, and reduce risks to pedestrians and other vulnerable road users. Eligible applicants include transit agencies, vehicle manufacturers, universities, nonprofit organizations, and other public and private entities.
