Background and Award Information

The New York State Department of Labor (NYSDOL), through its Office of Just Energy Transition, has released the Growing the Clean Energy Workforce – Electric Vehicles (GCEW-EV) program. Up to $7 million is available to support the creation and expansion of workforce training and pre-apprenticeship programs focused on electric vehicle maintenance and repair, EV charging station maintenance and repair, and EV fleet maintenance. GCEW-EV funding may also be used for wraparound services that support participant success, with awards of up to $500,000 per applicant, plus up to $100,000 for eligible training equipment. Eligible applicants include businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, municipalities, trade associations, and labor organizations operating in New York.

Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until December 3, 2026.
