Background and Award Information
Hawaiian Electric has issued its Integrated Grid Planning Request for Proposals seeking competitively priced renewable energy, energy storage, and firm generation resources on Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi Island, and Maui. The procurement is one of the largest in the state's history and is intended to modernize Hawaii's electric grid, improve reliability, reduce dependence on imported oil, and advance the state's goal of 100% renewable electricity by 2045. Hawaiian Electric is seeking proposals for solar and wind generation paired with battery energy storage, grid-forming resources, and firm generation capacity, with projects expected to enter service between 2031 and 2034.
