Background and Award Information

The Kaskaskia Regional Port District is seeking proposals from qualified vendors to supply, deliver, and commission battery-electric switcher locomotives, a battery-electric forklift, and associated charging infrastructure to support the transition from diesel-powered equipment to zero-emission operations. The project aims to modernize rail and cargo-handling activities at port facilities in Red Bud and New Athens, Illinois, and is funded in part by federal and state sources, including the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Vendors will be responsible for providing integrated equipment and charging solutions, along with training and support services.
