Mesa County Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Study
August 27, 2026
September 28, 2026
Background and Award Information
Mesa County's Regional Transportation Planning Office is soliciting proposals for a firm-fixed-price contract to study the feasibility of transitioning Grand Valley Transit (GVT) vehicles to zero-emission vehicles. GVT's current fleet runs on compressed natural gas, some of it renewable, produced through waste methane capture at a local wastewater treatment facility. The study will assess the role renewable natural gas can play in the transition, evaluate the viability of battery-electric and hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles, and recommend a phased path toward a zero-emission transit system. The selected consultant will produce a final study document meeting FTA zero-emission fleet transition plan requirements.
