Background and Award Information
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has announced $8 million in funding through its Advanced Fuels & Thermal Energy program to support the development of low-carbon alternative fuel resources and infrastructure, such as clean hydrogen or ammonia, aimed at reducing emissions in hard-to-electrify sectors including heavy-duty transportation and industry. Proposals are accepted in two technical areas: Large-Scale Alternative Fuel-Based Resources (such as multi-megawatt fuel cells) and Alternative Fuel Cell Infrastructure (including fuel production, storage, and distribution systems). Funding is available under two categories: Product Development and Pilot and Demonstration. Proposers interested in submitting the optional Letter of Intent must do so any time prior to September 7, 2026
Important Dates
Optional letters of intent are due September 7, 2026 and full applications are due September 28, 2026.
