Background and Award Information
The Port of Long Beach is funding the following project types: purchase of eligible zero-emission cargo handling equipment (CHE) and battery-electric CHE charging equipment; repower, replacement or retrofit of propulsion engines in eligible commercial harbor craft and zero-emission-capable harbor craft new-builds; and purchase of eligible zero-emission locomotives. Eligible applicants include container terminals, non-container terminals, and other tenants at the Port of Long Beach. All zero-emission CHE purchased with SWIFT funding must be human-operated and maintained. The project is funded by an approximately $58 million grant from the California State Transportation Agency.
