Background and Award Information

The THIVE program exists to encourage the adoption of hydrogen infrastructure, vehicles, and equipment to reduce NOx emissions in Texas nonattainment areas and impacted counties. Eligible applicants include individuals, state and local governments, and corporations in the outlined impacted counties. Applicants may repower or replace vehicles, including transit buses, or purchase or lease new vehicles powered by hydrogen along with installing and operating hydrogen refueling infrastructure. Applicants may request up to 100% of the incremental cost of the purchase of the hydrogen-powered vehicle or equipment and 50% of the incremental cost of the hydrogen refueling infrastructure.
