Background and Award Information

The Washington Department of Ecology is offering $18.5 million through its Diesel Reduction Combined Funding Program to scrap and replace older diesel vehicles and equipment with all-electric alternatives, with funding also available to install supporting charging infrastructure. Eligible projects include replacing or repowering on-road Class 4-8 vehicles, including emergency, local freight, and vocational vehicles such as sweepers and refuse trucks. Also eligible are non-road equipment like forklifts, cargo handling equipment, yard trucks, and terminal tractors. Eligible applicants include Washington-licensed businesses, non-profits, public organizations, and tribal governments. Funding comes from both the federal Volkswagen settlement and the state diesel reduction program, with priority given to projects in areas impacted by diesel pollution.
