The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) provided an initial assessment and recommendations for SunLine Transit Agency’s hydrogen production and fueling stations.

CTE assessed SunLine’s hydrogen production and fueling stations, which included evaluating the overall project status, schedule, scope of work, costs, progress to date, and the technical and business aspects of the contract between Nel and SunLine Transit. CTE visited the site to assess technical concerns and challenges with the existing Nel hydrogen fueling equipment, with Mr. Manouchehri leading the evaluation. The team conducted a review of project documents and the status of the proposed liquid hydrogen fueling facility by Nikkiso.

CTE also performed an analysis of the true cost of hydrogen production from SunLine’s electrolyzer.

Following this assessment, CTE provided a comprehensive summary of its findings and recommendations to establish a stable and fully functioning hydrogen fueling station and proposed alternative solutions to support SunLine Transit’s operations.

Once the initial recommendations were completed, CTE presented a scope of work and budget for project management and owner’s engineering services to continue supporting a reliable hydrogen fueling system and to potentially manage related federal and state grants.
