Washington, D.C. — The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) is celebrating the successful adoption of Amendment #67 to the BUILD 250 Surface Transportation Reauthorization Bill, a bipartisan, five-year transportation package that invests in America’s roads, bridges, transit, rail transportation, and highway and motor carrier safety programs. This amendment improves the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) Program, allowing for grant funds to be used to support technical assistance for grant recipients deploying advanced transportation technologies. This amendment will provide tangible benefits to transit agencies nationwide by improving access to the technical expertise needed to successfully implement innovative vehicle technologies and infrastructure projects.

CTE thanks Representative Julia Brownley of California introducing the measure, and Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chair Graves and Ranking Member Larsen for supporting the amendment’s passage. CTE looks forward to continued partnership as the bill advances to the House floor.

CTE hopes to partner with legislators in the House and the Senate to continue to improve the bill by ensuring it will include funding for transit industry priorities, including workforce development, operator and rider safety, and efficient use of government funds.
