FROM THE DIRECTOR'S DESK
What a few months it’s been. It seems like new uncertainty and new challenges greet us every day. In the face of this adversity, our community’s shared commitment to a zero-emission future is at the core of our success. I am encouraged by other professionals like you who daily rise to the occasion—despite the difficulties—and I am grateful.
At CTE, we continue to adapt to our new normal while working diligently to pursue our mission. Since March, we have overseen delivery of 10 electric buses to three sites. We have also completed two fleet transition plans and kicked off three more. We pivoted our annual Zero Emission Bus Conference, the world’s largest, to be a fully-online event this September. We continued to make significant strides on the Hill, as the Zero Emission Bus Program (formerly Low-No) stands to receive a 500% increase in annual funding as part of the U.S. House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure’s INVEST in America Act.
Speaking of our work in DC, I would be remiss not to take this opportunity to acknowledge John Lewis and the incredible legacy he leaves behind. CTE’s Atlanta headquarters are in Rep. Lewis’ district, and we have had the honor of working with him often over the past two decades. John Lewis stepped up to help CTE on numerous occasions, which puts us on a long, long list of people and organizations that benefitted immensely from coming into contact with this great man. He supported our mission and motivated us by speaking at several CTE events. We are proud to have had the opportunity to know him, to work with him, and to be inspired by him.
It is with great appreciation for all the hard work it took to get us here that I share CTE’s most recent accomplishments. I look forward to pressing on together.
