Atlanta, GA — The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) is proud to announce the appointment of Takehito Yokoo to its Board of Directors. An engineer and clean energy innovator with more than 40 years of experience, Yokoo brings extensive expertise in hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, vehicle development, and international collaboration to CTE’s Board.

Yokoo spent more than three decades at Toyota Motor North America R&D, where he held senior engineering leadership roles across the company’s hybrid, battery-electric, and hydrogen fuel cell programs. As Powertrain Chief Engineer and Senior Executive Engineer of Advanced Fuel Cell, he helped advance Toyota’s clean vehicle technologies and, in 2017, led the launch of the world’s first OEM hydrogen fuel cell heavy-duty truck demonstration at the Port of Los Angeles.

"His pioneering work in cutting-edge fuel cell powertrain development during his three decades of leadership at Toyota, combined with his remarkable track record of building cross-border alliances, will prove invaluable as we continue our efforts to bring zero-emission transportation technologies to market in the U.S. and beyond."

Yokoo continues to advance hydrogen technology and international collaboration as CEO of Jozen Power LLC and President of the Global Engineers Initiative. Through these roles, he works with government, industry, and academic partners in the United States and Japan to support hydrogen and decarbonization initiatives. He also serves as an advisor to the Japan Hydrogen Forum (JH2F), which he co-founded in 2021 in collaboration with the Japan External Trade Organization and the Consulate-General of Japan in Los Angeles, and on the Advisory Council of Stanford University’s Precourt Institute for Energy, part of the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability.
