San Francisco, CA – The Center for Transportation and the Environment (CTE) is excited to announce that the Zero Emission Bus Conference (ZEB Con) will return August 23–25, 2027, in downtown San Francisco, California.

The three-day conference will bring together transit agencies, shuttle operators, manufacturers, technology providers, and other transit industry stakeholders to share lessons learned from zero-emission bus deployments. Programming will address the full transition process from the operators’ perspective, from initial planning and technology selection to infrastructure development, workforce preparation, fleet operations, and long-term implementation.

“ZEB Con is one of the best events for the public transit bus industry, bringing together OEMs, suppliers, consultants, government leaders, and regional agencies from across the ecosystem,” said Venki Sundarraj, Vice President of Business Development at Triz Engineering. “It creates opportunities to bridge gaps, address evolving market needs, and work through the root causes of challenges—all in pursuit of common goals for the future of bus transportation.”

ZEB Con 2027 will feature:

  • Panel Sessions will focus on fleet operators as they explore the challenges and lessons shaping real-world zero-emission bus deployments, including technology selection, fleet transition planning, charging and hydrogen infrastructure, workforce development, maintenance, operations, funding, and more.
  • Keynote Speakers will include transportation and industry leaders sharing perspectives on the policies, technologies, and market developments shaping the future of zero-emission buses.
  • Exposition Hall will showcase manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers supporting the latest zero-emission bus technologies, infrastructure, and services in the exposition hall.
  • Happy Bus Hour will feature a static display of zero-emission buses and vehicles.  This signature ZEB Con event provides the perfect atmosphere for informal networking.
  • Dedicated Networking Opportunities will be scheduled throughout the conference to connect with peers, partners, and industry leaders.

Located in one of the country’s most active regions for zero-emission transportation, ZEB Con 2027 will give attendees the opportunity to participate in exclusive tours hosted by the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans). Participants will visit SamTrans’ North and South Bases for a firsthand look at battery-electric and fuel cell electric bus operations, existing charging and hydrogen fueling systems, and infrastructure investments underway to support the agency’s growing zero-emission fleet.

Managers and staff from bus and shuttle fleets consistently comprise more than half of ZEB Con attendees, creating an environment centered on practical knowledge sharing and peer-to-peer connection. CTE designed the conference to bring fleet operators together with the organizations supporting their transition so attendees can learn from real-world deployments, exchange lessons learned, and build relationships across the industry.

“I found the content, informational sessions and networking very valuable,” said Michele Craig, Director of Transit Administration at Broome County Transit. “Broome County is still just starting on this electrification journey and hearing the real-life applications from other agencies will help steer us in the right direction.”

Early bird registration for ZEB Con 2027 is now open. Visit www.zebconference.com to learn more and register. CTE invites all bus and shuttle fleets to submit an abstract for the opportunity to present a session on their zero-emission fleet. Presentations may relate to public or private battery or fuel cell electric fleets at transit agencies, universities, schools, airports, and other relevant transportation sectors.
