CTE Meets with Drawdown Georgia Business Compact to Advance Zero-Emission Transportation in GA
Authored by Soniya Bhagat, Engineering Consultant
CTE recently presented to the Drawdown Georgia Business Compact on the Georgia Tech campus. The meeting brought together experts and stakeholders to explore and identify potential projects to advance zero-emission transportation in Georgia.
Drawdown Georgia is a statewide initiative working to catalyze a Georgia beyond carbon, scaling Georgia-specific climate solutions in ways that prioritize equity and public health, create jobs, and nurture the natural environment. The compact launched in October 2021 and is made up of a growing list of collaborative partners, including Coca-Cola, Southwire, UPS, Amazon, Delta, Norfolk Southern, Blue Bird, and more
.CTE's presentation, led by Membership Director Taylor Pitel and Engineering Consultant Soniya Bhagat, showcased the organization's track record in Georgia and provided a roadmap for developing large-scale projects with federal or state funding involving multiple partner organizations. Topics included federal funding opportunities, grant writing, partner identification, defining project scope, and outlining the roles and responsibilities of project partners.
With an emphasis on CTE's extensive 30 years of industry experience, the team underscored CTE's expertise in zero-emission transportation projects within the state. Notable examples included MARTA's successful deployment of three battery-electric buses and CTE's collaborative efforts with the ATL Link Authority, resulting in a comprehensive transition plan encompassing six distinct transit agencies in the Atlanta region.
Discussions and partnerships with community stakeholders can help to advance zero-emission transportation in Georgia by identifying the needs and priorities of local communities, building support for new transportation solutions, overcoming barriers to the implementation of new transportation solutions, and ensuring that new transportation solutions are meeting the needs of the community.
CTE is committed to collaborating with stakeholders and experts to drive the development and implementation of transformative solutions that will propel Georgia towards a greener and more sustainable future. We are excited to continue our discussions with members of the DrawdownGeorgiaBusiness Compact and look forward to collaborating on projects that will help us achieve our shared goals.
